It's been almost a year but...

I am going to start blogging here again. To kick it off, I announce my official party registration change from the Republican Party to the Libertarian Party. No regrets. ;)

Adventures in Missing the Point

If blogging is about exchanging ideas, I pray that I never get to this point. Since my blog isn't read the temptations shouldn't present themselves. Desktop publishing from the 80's on, and blogs nowadays, have given rise to unstable people distributing wisdom. That being said, the internet and blogosphere provided a much needed source of accountability to the mainstream media.

Sola Snippets: Sola Deo Gloria

"Is our happiness and joy found in God or in someone or something else? Is our worship entertainment or worship? Is God's glory or our self-fulfillment the goal of our lives? Do we see God's grace as the only basis for our salvation, or are we still seeking some of the credit for ourselves? These questions reveal a glaring human-centeredness in the evangelical churches and the general witness of our day."--Dr. Michael Horton

"Many historians look back to the Reformation and wonder at its far-reaching influences in transforming culture. The work ethic, public education, civic and economic betterment, a revival of music, the arts, and a sense of all life being related somehow to God and his glory: These effects cause historians to observe with a sense of irony how a theology of sin and grace, the sovereignty of God over the helplessness of human beings, and an emphasis on salvation by grace apart from works, could be the catalyst for such energetic moral transformation. The reformers did not set out to launch a political or moral campaign, but they proved that when we put the Gospel first and give voice to the Word, the effects inevitably follow."-- Dr. Michael Horton

My Reasons for Blogging

Blogging kills several birds with one stone.

1. Discipline. I can always use more discipline and routine in my life. Private journaling is also an option but there is no accountability. My own attempts at journeling have lead to brooding and self-absorbtion. Don't need that.

2. Connection. Blogging isn't a dinner with friends and family but is does allow for conversation and reflection. Granted the blogger(s) usually dominate a particular blog but who said the readers can't start their own blog.

3. Improves the thought process. Writing, especially in an environment of accountability and exposure provide a great way to bounce ideas and distill one's own thoughts.

There are others but they are related closely enough to the above three.

I should probably start now

Since I said I would start in April, then July and now August...the time is now. Waiting would be sinful. Okay maybe that is an exaggeration but it would be foolish if I am serious about blogging consistently.
